United goalkeeper Bill Hamid has been named to the U.S. Men's National Team roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which the Americans kick off on July 8 against Panama. Hamid is one of 16 MLS-based players to make the squad, and began training with the team on Monday in Nashville. The Homegrown is no stranger to the international stage—here are some numbers behind Hamid's experience with the USMNT. 

2011

Hamid was called into USMNT camp for the first time in August of 2011 after spending time training with both the U-18 and U-20 U.S. national teams.

Hamid has earned two caps with the USMNT. He made his international debut on Jan. 21, 2012, when the U.S. shut out Venezuela 1-0 in Arizona. Hamid picked up his second cap in Dublin against the Republic of Ireland in November of 2014.

Three goalkeepers were named to Bruce Arena's roster: Hamid, Sean Johnson (New York City FC), and Brad Guzan (Atlanta United).

Nine players on the 23-man roster have trained with U.S. Soccer Development Academy clubs, including Hamid. Hamid was a member of United's Academy and signed with the first team on Sept. 2, 2009, becoming D.C.'s first-ever Homegrown Player. 

2013

Hamid and five other players on the current roster were members of U.S. Soccer's 2013 Gold-Cup winning side. The U.S. beat Panama 1-0 in the 2013 Gold Cup final in front of 58,000 fans at Chicago's Soldier Field. While Hamid was part of the squad, the goalkeeper is looking to make his first Gold Cup appearance in this year's competition.
