Dwayne de Rosario called-up to Canadian National Team

D.C. United announced today that midfielder Dwayne De Rosario has been called-up to the Canadian National Team for two upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and a friendly match against the U.S. National Team. De Rosario will join the Canadian Soccer Association from May 27 to June 13.


The Canadian National Team will train in Ft. Lauderdale in preparation for an international friendly match against the U.S. National Team on June 3 at BMO Field in Toronto. With kickoff set to 7:00 p.m. ET, the game will serve to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Soccer Association.


Canada will then kickoff CONCACAF’s Round 3 of 2014 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with matches against Cuba in Havana on June 8 and Honduras in Toronto on June 12. Canada will compete in Group C against Cuba, Honduras and Panama.


De Rosario has started all of United’s thirteen matches this season, tallying three goals and an MLS-leading seven assists. The Canadian playmaker scored his third goal of 2012 in Wednesday night’s 2-0 home win against the Colorado Rapids. D.C.
