United Homegrown Player Chris Durkin captained the U.S. Under-17s in the team's last group stage match against El Salvador on Saturday, April 29. John Hackworth's team, who had already locked up the top spot in Group C, defeated El Salvador (and two United academy players, Alexis Cerritos and Allexon Saravia) 1-0 behind a goal from Zyen Jones.
Durkin, who played all 90 minutes in every group stage match, helped the US finish Group C with a perfect nine points, six better than second-place Mexico. The U.S. now begin the classification stage of the 2017 CONCACAF U-17 Championship in a Group D clash against Honduras on Wednesday, May 3. Kickoff from Estadio Maracaná in Panama City is set for 2:30 PM ET and the match can be seen live on UDN and the CONCACAF YouTube Channel. The U.S. and Honduras will be joined in Group D by Cuba.
