While D.C. United was hard at work at RFK, the Richmond Kickers, Washington Spirit and D.C. United U-23s were busy giving the DMV an undefeated record on the weekend.
Richmond Kickers
The Kickers beat the Harrisburg City Islanders 3-2 in an exciting match at Skyline Sports Complex. The first goal came from D.C. United midfielder Jared Jeffrey, courtesy of DCU defender Taylor Kemp’s assist in the 6th minute. The first half ended 1-0, but the battle was far from over.
The Islander’s Jimmy McLaughlin found Morgan Langley, who tied the game at 1 in the 55th minute, but just seven minutes later, United’s Kyle Porter found Matthew Delicate for the go-ahead goal.
In stoppage time, Harrisburg found the equalizer on an own goal from a scrum in front of Black-and-Red ‘keeper Joe Willis. But, with the clock winding down, Porter found the game-winner with an assists from Luke Vercollone, for a final score of 3-2 in favor of Richmond.
This Saturday, the Kickers will host the Islanders at City Stadium in Richmond.
