Defender Nick DeLeon has been named to MLS' Team of the Week for Week 35 following his performance in United's 0-0 draw at the Chicago Fire on Sunday. After gradually returning the lineup over the last few matches following his recovery from injury, DeLeon started and was a resilient presence in the backline in Chicago, helping fend off the Fire's attack to earn another clean sheet for the Black-and-Red in their regular season finale.
DeLeon earned an 88% passing accuracy rate and notched eight duels won, three tackles, five clearances, and three interceptions in the draw. With Chicago pressing hard for one last home win of 2018, DeLeon stood strong from his right back spot, coming up with a number of key stops to keep Chicago off the board. The draw allowed United to secure home-field advantage for the Knockout Round—they'll now host the Columbus Crew on Thursday, Nov. 1 at 8 PM ET at Audi Field.
This is DeLeon's first Team of the Week honor of the season.
