It’s not too soon to start thinking about spring break plans. There may still be snow on the ground, but you can go ahead and start daydreaming of warm spring break plans with D.C. United. The month of April has several opportunities for players to begin training and playing soccer outside again. D.C. United Spring Training Programs begin on April 6th, and the Spring Break Camp runs April 14th-18th.
Over 25 current D.C. United Pre-Academy and Developmental Academy players have participated in D.C. United Camps & Training Programs. The camps give players a fun setting to play and learn, while the training program provides more structure and technical training for advanced players.
“Players weren’t pinned into a certain style of soccer at the training programs,” said D.C. United U-13 Pre-Academy player Bryce Orsini. “You were allowed to be you while being in a competitive learning environment. The instruction from the coaches was great!”
Many current Pre-Academy players attend training programs to continue improving their development with extra technical training.
“It’s a very intensive program for young players wishing to improve their soccer skills,” said D.C. United U-12 Pre-Academy Head Coach Dave Sanford. “These guys get quality time on the ball and we, as coaches, push them to do better. I definitely encourage any player wanting to join a D.C. United team to sign up for our spring training program.”
“The D.C. United coaches teach and help prepare you for the Pre-Academy,” said four time training program attendee and U-12 Pre-Academy player Ryan Espinosa. “They make you a well rounded player through drills, scrimmages, technical skill and fun games.”
Cameron Viator, a four-time training program attendee and U-12 Pre-Academy player said, “I would recommend the training programs to any player wanting to play at the next level. You get to see the level of commitment needed to play at the academy level. The training programs that I attended helped me prepare for the Pre-Academy tryouts.”
Registration for Spring Training Programs and Spring Break Camp is now open. The Training Program sessions will run six Sundays from April 6th until May 11th at D.C. United’s Training Complex at RFK Stadium. The Spring Break Camps will run the week of April 14th-18th at D.C. United’s Training Complex at RFK Stadium, as well as Patriot Park in Fairfax, VA.
