Coming off of a long offseason, complete with many roster changes and a Carolina Challenge Cup championship, D.C. United needed just a couple of games to get its turnaround season off the ground.

In its home opener, the Black-and-Red looked much like the newly redesigned team that it was. With seven new faces in the starting lineup, D.C. United was still gelling.

BMO Field
On the road in front of a packed house at BMO Field, United’s Bill Hamid proved to be one of the top goalkeepers in MLS against a fiery Toronto FC, led by international stars Jermain Defoe and Michael Bradley. The Homegrown Okeeper put up five saves on the day.
March 29, 2014: D.C. United 2 – Chicago Fire 2
RFK Stadium
Things have started to click for DCU. On a rainy evening at RFK, United net its first two goals of the season. A free kick blast from newly signed Fabián Espíndola and an 81st minute scramble from Perry Kitchen. The team had much to look forward to, heading into April.
