Though it took a few games to click, D.C. United hit its stride in April.

April 5, 2014:D.C. United 2 – New England 0
RFK Stadium
After tying the Chicago Fire 2-2 in March, United found its groove against New England. With an own goal from a Revs defender putting the Black-and-Red up 1-0, Chris Rolfe, in his D.C. United debut, sealed the deal, volleying home Fabián Espíndola’s service over the top. Another making his 2014 debut was goalkeeper, Andrew Dykstra, stepping in for an injured Bill Hamid. The 2-0 win was DCU’s first shutout of the season.
April 12, 2014:D.C. United 1 – New York 0
RFK Stadium
In the first match of the Atlantic Cup series, D.C. United’s Davy Arnaud headed in an Espindola corner kick, flicked to the back post by Bobby Boswell. After the 4th minute game-winner, the Black-and-Red and Andrew Dykstra held on to secure three points at home against its I-95 rival.
April 19, 2014:Columbus Crew 1 – D.C. United 1
Crew Stadium
Still looking for its first road win, United traveled to Columbus, facing the Crew for the second time in two months. Espíndola tallied his second of the season off a beautiful Nick DeLeon assist, his first of the year. In the waning minutes of the match, though, the Crew tied the match, earning United a point on the road.
April 26, 2014:D.C. United 4 – FC Dallas 1
RFK Stadium
A night to remember at RFK saw four goals for the Black-and-Red. Espíndola netted a brace, while assisting onSean Franklin’s first goal for D.C. United. Captain Bobby Boswell also tallied his first of the season, while Rolfe and Eddie Johnson each registered an assist.
