D.C. United today announced that Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic has released the majority of D.C. United’s regional television schedule for the 2014 Major League Soccer season. In addition, the network announced that former D.C. United midfielder Santino Quaranta, a Baltimore native, will serve as analyst for the network’s telecasts this season.
Comcast SportsNet, the official sports network of D.C. United, is currently scheduled to televise 14 matches this season, with the remainder to be announced at a later date. The network’s schedule will begin when D.C. United visits the Portland Timbers on May 3 and currently includes all but one subsequent league match through the Aug. 3 game at the Houston Dynamo, as well as the team’s Aug. 27 match at the LA Galaxy.
Quaranta will serve alongside veteran play-by-play announcer Dave Johnson, who has held this position since the team’s inaugural season in 1996. As a player, Quaranta appeared in 159 games in 10 seasons for D.C. United, recording 24 goals and 29 assists and winning the 2004 MLS Cup. He also spent time with the LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls, and appeared in 15 games for the U.S. national team. He retired in 2011 after his second stint with D.C. United.
Comcast SportsNet will present pre- and post-game shows, D.C. United Central and D.C. United Postgame Live, surrounding select games, as well as other team-related programming. Comcast SportsNet will also continue to deliver comprehensive coverage of D.C. United across its news and digital media platforms.
All matches which are not televised locally or nationally, will be streamed live on dcunited.com/live. These livestreams are available only to those who live within a 75 mile radius of Washington, DC. For viewers who live outside this area, please consider upgrading to MLS LIVE, or purchasing the Direct Kick package.
