D.C. United have acquired Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) forward Adrien Perez after selecting him with the third overall pick in the second stage of the 2020 MLS Re-Entry Draft.
“We are excited to acquire a player of Adrien’s quality in the Re-Entry Draft,” Dave Kasper, D.C. United General Manager and VP of Soccer Operations, said. “He is an attacking and creative player who has impressed us in his first two MLS seasons with LAFC. Adrien will add some depth and competition at forward and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to the club.”
Perez started his MLS career with LAFC when he was signed on Feb. 21, 2019 from the Ottawa Fury in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). In two seasons with LAFC, Perez scored one goal in 25 appearances across all competitions. He scored his first MLS goal in the 2-2 draw with Orlando City SC on Sept. 7, 2019. In 2020, Perez made nine appearances (two starts); recording seven total shots in 299 minutes on the field.
Prior to joining LAFC, Perez played in the MASL with the Ottawa Fury. In 28 appearances for Ottawa from 2017 to 2019, the 25-year-old scored 47 goals. Perez led the entire MASL in goals ahead of being called into LAFC’s training camp in early 2019.
Perez played four years for Loyola Marymount University in NCAA Division I after growing up in Ontario, California. The forward scored 21 goals in 63 appearances from 2013 to 2016 for the Marymount Lions.
