Dallas Cup action moves to quarterfinals

The Dallas Cup is hitting the quarterfinal stage today in Dallas Texas, and despite valiant efforts from several local youth teams, none of them were able to secure enough points to move on from group play to the knockout rounds.

D.C. United Academy contested the Under-19 and U-16 divisions with their youth squads, and Reston Knights FC (Reston, Va.) and TAP Barcelona/FC Barca (Alexandria, Va.) also competed in the U-16 division. OBGC Rangers (Olney, Md.) competed in the U-15 division, and BYRC Elite (Springfield, Va.) and Champions League Select (Richmond, Va.) both competed as U-14 squads. TAP Milan/FC Barca (Alexandria, Va.) was the sole area representative in the U-13 division.

D.C. United didn't start their U-19 division play well, with a 2-1 loss to Davis Legacy, but they came back to win 2-1 against the Knowsley Youth squad from England, and then defeated Andromeda SC 2-0 in their last match on Wednesday. While the posted two wins in group play, they failed to move on based on goals against average.

D.C. United's U-16 squad lost all three of their matches, and the Reston Knights went 1-1-1, defeating Mana (Mexico) 3-0 in their last match. TAP Barcelona/FC Barca lost two, but tied 1-1 against Solar SC (Texas).

OBGC Rangers went 1-1-1 in the U-15 division, tying the Texans-Houston Pre-Academy squad 2-2, then defeating CZ Elite (Calif.) 3-1. A heavy 5-0 loss against Eintract Frankfurt (Germany) kept them from moving on.

In the U-14 division, both BRYC Elite and Champions League Select lost all three of their matches. The Elite had close games against Santa Clara Sporting Black (2-1) and Seleccion RCL Soccer (3-2) but the California and Mexico squads proved difficult to beat.

TAP Milan/FC Barca tied the Texans-Houston Pre-Academy (Texas) squad 1-1, but they lost their other two games against Nomads Academy (Calif.) and TFC Royal (Texas), 3-2 and 3-1 respectively.
