WASHINGTON, D.C. (Jan. 12, 2024) - D.C. United have signed Georgetown University standout Jacob Murrell. Murrell was the 7th overall selection for the Black-and-Red in the 2024 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas on Dec. 19, 2023. The Black-and-Red have signed Murrell to a three-year contract through 2026 with an option in 2027.

The Maryland native was the 2022 Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school before committing to play for Georgetown University. During his freshman year, Murrell appeared in all 21 matches (16 starts) and led the Hoyas in scoring with seven goals, ranking him sixth in the Big East in scoring. In 2023, Murrell scored 11 goals and recorded four assists in 19 appearances, starting all but one match. Murrell scored a total of 18 goals and recorded eight assists in 40 appearances (34 starts) for Georgetown University across two seasons.
