WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 20, 2023) – D.C. United have loaned midfielder Jackson Hopkins to Loudoun United FC in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship for the 2023 season. The club have the ability to recall Hopkins at any point throughout the 2023 MLS season.
Hopkins, 18, joined the Black-and-Red on April 13, 2022 as the 18th Homegrown Signing in club history. The Virginia native signed a four-year deal through 2025 with options in 2026 and 2027. He made his Black-and-Red debut on April 16, 2022 in a 3-2 league loss to Austin FC. In total, Hopkins has appeared in 29 matches for D.C. United and recorded one assist.
The midfielder initially signed an academy contract with Loudoun United FC in the United Soccer League (USL) Championship during the 2021 season and made his professional debut on July 28, 2021 as an 82nd-minute substitute against the Charleston Battery. He has played in 21 games for Loudoun United FC scoring two goals and recording one assist. Hopkins has also represented the United States Youth National Team at the U-20 level and has appeared in six matches recording one assist in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
