Bill Hamid's milestone match against NYCFC

On March 10, Hamid made his 200th start in MLS, adding to his record-number of starts by a Homegrown player. The only Homegrown player with more appearances is Diego Fagundez of the New England Revolution. However, while Fagundez has 219 games played in his career, he has only 164 starts. The Black-and-Red goalkeeper also ranks 14th overall in games played and minutes played by a goalkeeper in MLS history.

Hamid is now second in the league in saves this season, trailing only Tim Melia of Sporting Kansas City, and is organizing a backline that has yet to concede a goal. He also made an appearance in the MLS Team of the Week for the second straight week this season for his performance in the Bronx.

Hamid has been a cornerstone of the club since he signed as United's first Homegrown player in 2009. He’s grown with the club, getting better and better each year. In addition to his 200 starts, Hamid has accumulated 701 saves, 56 clean sheets, and averages just 1.24 goals-against per game. When he returned to the club last August, he became a critical part of the Black-and-Red’s playoff run. He earned four shutouts in the final six games, helping to propel United to the No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference and the Knockout Round of the MLS playoffs.

Hamid and the Black-and-Red will take the pitch again in front of their home crowd on Saturday night, facing another opponent who could strike at any moment. The match against Real Salt Lake kicks off at 8:00 PM ET. You can purchase tickets here or watch live on FloFC.
