United head coach Ben Olsen has been named the head coach for the MLS Team of the Week following his side's impressive victory on the road against Atlanta United FC on Sunday. After a frantic first ten minutes, Olsen implemented a change in the midfield, which changed the dynamic of the match. "We dropped Ian flat next to Jared to clog up the passing lanes to Almiron and Asad, both of whom caused us fits all night," he said following the victory.
The game was United's first away win of the year and was the first time the Black-and-Red scored three goals away from home since 2014. Midfielder Luciano Acosta (goal and assist) and goalkeeper Bill Hamid (six saves) were also named to the MLS Team of the Week.
In United's first match against league debutants Atlanta, Olsen came out on top over his opposing head coach, Gerardo "Tata" Martino. The win, his third of 2017, helped to end the three-game road stretch strong ahead of a homestand in May.
United return to RFK Stadium May 6 to take on the Montreal Impact.
