United academy forward Alexis Cerritos started and scored El Salvador's only goal in their second group stage match against Jamaica in the CONCACAF U-17 Championship. Early in the second half, Cerritos received the ball just outside the penalty area and dribbled past a Jamaican defender, who brought him down for a penalty.
Cerritos then stepped up to take the kick he had just earned and buried the ball to the goalkeeper's right, tying the game at 1 apiece. He went on to play all 90 minutes in the 3-1 loss.
El Salvador and Cerritos next play the U.S. and Chris Durkin on April 29 in the final group game. Durkin and the U.S. U-17s defeated Mexico for the first time in history Wednesday, April 26, 4-3.
