Last night, the LA Galaxy took the top prize in Major League Soccer's 2014 campaign, but we're more excited about what's on the horizon than in the past, so let's look ahead. This morning, MLS and long-time partner adidas announced the unveiling of an all new match ball for next year. The ball, named NATIVO, was designed with MLS' new identity in mind and features technology to match adidas' longtime standard of excellence.
NATIVO features six panels, and a unique micro-textured surface. The panels help optimize aerodynamics of the ball, while the textured surface provides stability and grip control. In additional to top-notch technology, NATIVO is adidas' most tested ball ever.
Design details and explaination:
- Maple Leaf - represents Canada, one of MLS' home nations
- Two Stars - represent USA, one of MLS' home nations
- Coloring - the red, white and blue design represents MLS' brand as well as the colors of the two home nations
- NATIVO - the name reflects the ball's stature in the game and pride in the domestic league
