Academy update - U-18 - 2012

U-18 Recap:
The U-18’s had a strong performance on Saturday as they hosted the McLean academy. The team dominated possession throughout the entire match, but went into the half with a score of 0-0. Just after the break, in the 62nd minute, McLean opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead on the home side. The Black-and-Red academy squad continued to push and fight for an equalizer and the goal came in the 82nd minute when Mike Seaton (Capitol Heights, Maryland) headed in a cross from Chike Nwaezeapu (Washington D.C./Maret School).

Despite pushing hard for a game-winner, the game ended up in a 1-1 tie. “The first 45 minutes versus McLean was the best we've played this year,” said Nolan Sheldon, head coach of D.C. United’s U-18 Academy team. “The speed of play in possession was excellent, but what I was most pleased with was how quickly we were able to recover the ball from the opponent."
