The D.C. United U-23, U-18 and U-16 Academy and Pre-Academy teams were all in action this past weekend.
The D.C. United U-23 team beat Chesterfield United FC 1-0 in its first home game of the NPSL season. The lone goal came off a spectacular bicycle kick from Ryan Harmouche in the 41st minute.
U-23s: 1-0 win

The boys put together a solid 90 minutes and were rewarded with the result versus a dangerous and direct attacking team. It was great to see some of the defensive training concepts come out from the week.

The U-18s and U-16s took on DMV rival Bethesda-Olney on Memorial Day, a game that was rescheduled from earlier in the season.

Man of the Match: James “Jimmy” Filerman
Jimmy was a strong attacking threat for the team in the second half. He showed his versatility as a player, stepping in at central defense in the first half and then as an attacking outside back in the second half.

Jonathan did a great job in all of his defensive and transition phases of the game. Whether it was marking, challenging or reading situations, he consistently worked for the group and kept some of their strong attackers at bay.

Three D.C. United Pre-Academy teams competed in the Virginian Elite Soccer Showcase that was held over Memorial Day Weekend. The U-13s won 2-1 in its final over affiliate member Northern Virginia Soccer Club 99B Blue. The U-15s topped the A bracket of the showcase with a record of 3-0-0 and scored 17 goals on the weekend.
The D.C. United U-16s will be traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa., to play friendlies against Century United U-17s on Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds U-23 PDL team on Sunday at 12:10 p.m.
