Last Season Recap
United and the Red Bulls met three times last season, twice at RFK Stadium before traveling to Red Bull Arena on Sept. 11, going 1-0-2 and clinching the Atlantic Cup. In May, the Black-and-Red scored twice and blanked the Red Bulls, leading to a 2-0 victory at RFK behind goals from Álvaro Saborío and Patrick Nyarko. In August, the two sides met at a soaking wet RFK and played to an exciting 2-2 draw. In the final game last year, the Red Bulls hosted United just miles from the World Trade Center on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. Steve Birnbaum and Lamar Neagle mounted a dramatic late comeback to earn a draw and claim the Atlantic Cup.
