United's three-match unbeaten road streak was snapped Saturday night when the Union converted two first-half penalties, leading to a 3-0 defeat over the Black-and-Red.

United were perhaps unlucky to concede the penalty kicks, both on surging runs into the box, first by Chris Pontius and later by Ilsinho. Roland Alberg finished the first PK while Ilsinho tucked home the spot kick he'd won himself.

Box Score

D.C.'s hopes of a second-half rally were crushed when Ilsinho blasted home a C.J. Sapong knockdown just moments after the end of the intermission. It took several excellent saves from Bill Hamid to stop the final result from being even more one-sided as Philly continued to boss the game down the stretch.

The Union would finish the night with a man advantage after United center back Kofi Opare's rough night came to a premature end when he saw his second yellow for a rugged challenge on Pontius.
