D.C. United have signed Italian midfielder Andrea Mancini, who most recently played for Szombathelyi Halidás of the Hungarian first division. The 23-year-old is the latest trialist to sign with the Black-and-Red following the 2016 preseason and will be added to the roster pending receipt of his ITC and P-1 Visa.
"Andrea impressed us in pre-season with his technical proficiency and tactical understanding,” Dave Kasper, United general manager and VP of soccer operations, said. "We look forward to seeing him develop with the rest of our group."
The Italian played in the Inter Milan youth system from 2005-2009 as well as Manchester City's academy from 2010-2011 (along with Clowes, who played in the City academy until he was 18). Mancini spent time in England and Spain before landing in Hungary, first with Budapest Honvéd FC, followed by Szombathelyi last year.
Mancini, who featured in United's preseason matches during the Tampa Bay Rowdies Sun Coast Invitational, will wear the number 41 shirt.
The Italian is the youngest son of Internazionale Milano's head coach Roberto Mancini.
